Hey Girls is a dynamic Scottish Social Enterprise that sells wholesale and retail period products, delivers menstrual health education sessions, lobbies to eradicate Period Poverty. Our aim is to make menstrual products available to girls and women in the UK no matter what their personal circumstances.
We are changing the UK’s Period Poverty and Period Dignity position through our innovative and sustainable Buy One Give One solution. We sell sustainable sanitary products, pads, tampons, cups, and reusable pads online and in retail stores and supermarkets. We also supply schools, colleges and councils through public sector contracts. As a result of our sales, we offer product donations UK wide, offer educational workshops and train the trainer sessions to support schools, women’s groups and support organisations to ensure their service users and students have healthier, happier and have more affordable periods.
After trading for 16 months we are at a very exciting stage in our development. We already supply large numbers of local authority councils, government departments and educational institutions across Scotland and growing quickly across the rest of the UK. We are stocked by an increasing number of supermarkets and independent retail stores – and we are set for further growth.
Today Hey Girls is embraced all over the UK. Our users (and donators) gifted 3.4 million period products in the past 16 months to those in need of a little extra help each month. Our mission is simple – to eradicate Period Poverty in the UK in a sustainable way, and to turn the dial around period taboos.

Hey Girls is as now a key player in the fight against period poverty
Job Purpose: Right now we are looking for an exceptional Senior Business Development Manager to join our leadership team. This key role is responsible for the leadership of sales, working closely with the business to achieve revenue targets and business goals while developing the sales competency across the team. And because our multi award winning CEO can’t quite manage to be in two places and one time you will need to be ready to act on her behalf. That may be leading a round table discussion with potential public sector customers, meeting with supermarket buyers, speaking at awareness-raising events and being the spokesperson for Hey Girls at very short notice in the media and at events.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develop a robust sales strategy linked to our broader vision.
Ensure appropriate resourcing to implement sales strategy and meet goals.
Work with team to communicate strategy and cascade to individual KPIs and manage performance.
Identify capability across the team and implement development to remove gaps.
Work with the CEO to deliver on broader opportunities or remove roadblocks for sales performance.
Evaluate the viability, strategic implications and brand consequence of sales proposals.
You need to be a total super star and have all of the following qualifications and skills.
5+ years’ experience in a Wholesale / Business to Business sales role with a great understanding of sales and business customer procurement processes in either
- public sector – local authority/education etc and
- private sector – supermarket / high street multi national / independent retail.
Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
Experience in managing budgets and resource allocation.
Strong eye for detail with experience in strategic planning and goal setting.
Clear, very well developed communication skills both written and verbal.
Must respect the Hey Girls brand ethos – this is essential for the role.
Salary: Market rate
Location: Working from our office near Edinburgh we offer a competitive salary package, great work-life balance and the chance to work with a fantastic, dedicated team.
Hours: Five days per week – 2 days in the office with flexibility as required.
