How Balfour Beatty Partnered with Hey Girls
Balfour Beatty partnered with Hey Girls to help address period poverty and challenge the stigma surrounding periods in the workplace, particularly within the construction industry. The initiative aimed to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for both employees and visitors across its sites.
Hey Girls was also well positioned to support wider corporate social responsibility goals. Balfour Beatty, like Lyreco and Hey Girls share a strong commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible practices.
The need
Balfour Beatty set out to help eradicate the stigma surrounding periods and period poverty within a traditionally male-dominated industry, while ensuring the initiative was delivered in a sustainable way. Their partnership with Hey Girls, facilitated by Lyreco, has proven to be highly successful.
The impact
Educating staff and ensuring essential products are readily available whenever they are needed plays an important role in creating a period-positive environment. This is more than a charitable initiative - it is a practical solution to a real issue faced by thousands of people every day.
We wanted to address the stigma surrounding periods within the construction industry and ensure we create the most welcoming and inclusive environment for both our employees and people visiting our sites.
