How Edinburgh Napier University partnered with Hey Girls
Hey Girls home pack service enabled students to have free access to period products delivered straight to their door through an online booking system on the Hey Girls website. We also have products on campus. We are one of Scotland’s leading universities, with more than 19,500 students studying across three campuses in Merchiston, Craiglockhart and Sighthill.
We have a collaborative relationship with Hey Girls, having our students take part in work placements creating design and product resources.
The need
The university first partnered with Hey Girls in 2019, with the project diversifying to help meet the needs of students throughout the pandemic. Edinburgh Napier University recognises the dangers period poverty poses to its students education and works closely with Hey Girls to make its campuses an inclusive place to live and learn.
The impact
Period poverty prevents students from attending lectures vital to their degrees. Stocking free period products throughout campus washrooms and the introduction of home packs has ensured no student struggles through period poverty and helps make higher education accessible to all.
