How Wincanton partnered with hey girls...
We partnered with Hey Girls to implement our period dignity initiative across the organisation. During National Inclusion Week, we launched a communications campaign and distributed period products across all our sites.
The social value delivered by Hey Girls was a key factor in our decision to partner with them. At Wincanton, our Million Hour Mission aims to dedicate one million hours to social value by 2025. Collaborating with Hey Girls supports two key pillars of our social value strategy: fostering an inclusive culture and strengthening meaningful social value partnerships.
We are also proud that purchasing period products for our colleagues helps generate additional donations for communities in need, extending the positive impact beyond our organisation.

The need
Wincanton proudly embraces diversity and is committed to supporting colleagues who have periods by ensuring they can manage them with dignity at work.
We chose to partner with Hey Girls, an ethical and environmentally conscious social enterprise, because their values closely align with our ESG and CSR ambitions. Through this partnership, we also wanted to raise awareness of our commitment to colleague wellbeing and help challenge the stigma surrounding periods within a traditionally male-dominated industry.
The impact
We have seen a noticeable improvement in productivity, as colleagues no longer need to leave work to purchase period products. More importantly, psychological safety has increased, with employees feeling more comfortable and no longer needing to discreetly hide period products when going to the bathroom.
Providing period products for our colleagues shows that we are caring for our people and demonstrating it – not just saying it.
