Thousands of students at three Welsh colleges now benefit from free period products thanks to one of Hey Girls’ latest partnerships.
Students at Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menau and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor are now being supplied with our award-winning period products, after umbrella organisation Grŵp Llandrillo Menai got in touch.
The latest partnership comes thanks in part to the Welsh government, which has provided funding to promote period dignity in institutions across Wales.
Daisy Williams, Partner and Contracts Manager at Hey Girls, said: “The cost-of-living crisis has seen more young people struggle to afford period products. These products are a necessity, not a luxury.
“It is unacceptable for young people to be forced to make difficult choices when it comes to their period, so we are so pleased Grŵp Llandrillo Menai and the Welsh government are leading the charge to improve the situation in Wales.
“Providing Hey Girls products helps keep people in further education and improve their concentration, all while ensuring they remain hygienic and safe.”
Students at the college qualify to have our period products sent to their door thanks to the partnership.
Samantha McIlvogue, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s Director of Learner Services, added she is “very excited” by the initiative.
She said: “The launch of the new home delivery services means that our learners now have access to free sanitary products, which are delivered straight to their homes in a discreet way.
“As part of our commitment to improving people’s futures and to our wellbeing strategy, this funding will allow learners to continue with their studies without having to worry about access to products.
“Being able to order products for free online, delivered to their home, will ensure that learners do not miss out on any college time and they can participate fully in society.”
