How do I insert a period cup?

Period cups can be folded in many different ways making them easy to insert just like you would a tampon. When inside the vagina, the cup creates a seal keeping you leak free throughout your cycle.

To remove it, squeeze slightly to break the vacuum seal before pulling out slowly and gently on the tail of the cup (just like you would a tampon string) and rinse it for your next use.

Give a cup a go! It can be intimidating at first, but find what folds work for you and take your time. We have lots of useful guides on our website and socials if you get stuck.

How long can I wear a cup?

You can wear a cup for up to 12 hours! It’s great for sports and swimming as an alternative to tampons.

How do I clean my cup?

Period cups should be sterilised before and after each use.

Pop the cup into boiling water for 2-3 minutes, making sure it’s cooled down before you insert it! You don’t have to use soap but if you do, make sure it’s natural or silicone friendly.

The easiest way to clean your period cup is with our sterilising pot. Simply pop your cup in and fill the steriliser with water up to 1cm below the rim. Place the lid loosely back on top and microwave for 2-3 minutes.

Does the sterilising pot fit any cup in it?

Yes! Both a small or large period cup fits in our sterilising pot, making them the perfect pair for your period!

The sterilising pot is design to fold away when not it use, so it’s easy to take with you on the go or when traveling. The collapsible design makes it easy for your cup and sterilising pot to fit neatly in our Cup Combo Kit washbags.

First of all i want to thanks Hey girls delivery team, I ordered two cups on 28th of April and they arrived on 30th April, that is so quick. I am using menstural cup for eight months. What a good decision i ever made. They are a game changer. Very comfortable and if you wear it properly then you just can’t feel it. Heygirls is just a perfect cup like other expensive cups. High quality packaging and cup itself is a very good quality if I compare it with organicup. I bought two heygirls cups plus delivery £21 where organicup cost me £21 for one cup. 100% recommended.

Could not recommend this enough. My friend told me how her menstrual cup was a game changer so I surfed the internet and found this fantastic company that sell menstrual cups at such a reasonable price compared to others I’ve seen on the market. I can confirm that it is an absolute game changer, especially when it comes to sleeping and although it takes some getting used to, I’m just finishing my first cycle of use and it’s no where near as difficult to adjust to as the internet would have you believe (in my personal experience). If you’re on the fence or considering it, splash out the couple of pounds (it’s nothing really when you consider the cost of sanitary products and the tampon tax) YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. Great quality, less hassle, 100% would recommend the Hey Girl menstrual cup.

Okay so I’ve owned 2 cups prior to buying this one – the first a cheap one from eBay which was okay but got dirty fast and was a super flimsy material. The second was a branded official mooncup which was also okay but set me back £22!! And neither were leakproof in any capacity. But this one is fantastic. £12 with delivery, supporting an amazing cause and is 100% leak proof I can’t believe how good it is! Thank you for making such a high quality product for such a decent price, and for fighting period poverty. Great company through and through x

Amazing! It’s only my second cycle using it but I’ve (pretty much) got the hang of it and have found it to be, as people keep saying, a game changer! It feels great not faffing with tampons and feeling guilty about the waste, and the seal is so good I’ve been amazed that there are no leaks; you just forget you’re on your period! No hassle. Wonderful product and an excellent ethos. Feel proud to be part of this movement, thank you for making them!

Menstrual cups are defo a game changer. After 30-odd years of tampons and pads, I am looking forward to seeing out my diminishing period with a cup. Easy to use (once you get the hang of it), easy to sterilise , environmentally friendly, sustainable and cost effective. Wish these were around when I was a teenager.

Total game changer, after not having periods for about 5 years due to the contraseptive injection iv recently changed to the implant, witch has ment my periods have come back, the first couple of months i used tampons or pads like i used to and relised how much i hate them! I feel dirty, irratated and just genrally down when i have to use them, i had seen a few cups online but i went to my local coop and saw they hey girl cup in there and for such an amazing price and the fact they donate one to a girl in need is just lovely! now all the ones i had seen online where between £16-£25 so i took the plunge and i will never look back! Its comftable clean no oder nothing i just go about my normal day witch involves horses and genrally being very active and not a single leak! 100% recomend to anyone and eveyone! Dosnt take long to get the hang of it!

This cup are just amazing. Cups are a game changers, but for a beginner like me could be hard find which one fits you and understand how does it work, so this is a perfect cup to start with and giving a try, because of the very reasonable price and good quality. The small cup is softer than the large. I have tried both and to me the large one is easier to insert and open up. Also I love the fact my bought will sustain sustain a mum & daughters business and that every box you buy they give a box away to a women in need. Special note to the customer service, they replied to me immediately sending me a period kit as well!
