UNsanitary Pads

THIS ISN’T A REAL PRODUCT.  BUT IT’S A REAL PROBLEM.

Socks, newspaper or loo roll – we would never ask you use these items during your period. But for 1 in 10 girls and young women in the UK, that is too often the reality.

UNsanitary pads is a fake brand, designed to shock. It makes the crippling period poverty these girls and young women still face across the UK relevant and real.

That’s 1 in 10 girls and young women suffering the embarrassment, discomfort – and potentially ill-health, of using makeshift items in place of period products.

THIS IS UNFAIR, UNACCEPTABLE AND UNSANITARY.

UNsanitary Pads fictitious product, created by adam&eveDDB, launched this weekend with a pop-up stocked with fake ‘UNsanitary Pads’ in ASDA stores in London and Bristol.

The Unsanitary pads product launch has been supported by a special edition of The Big Issue Magazine revealing the full story around ‘UNsanitary Pads’ and bringing attention to the shocking situation many women and girls face in the UK.
