having your period should never stop you from doing anything – especially something fun like taking part in sports and exercise…
Hey Girls is proud to collaborate on several projects that focus on getting young people back into sport via provision of period products and education.
We have lived and learnt experience that sports can be a challenging topic when discussing periods, so we are really excited to help educate people to keep them active while they are menstruating.
*Research statistics provided by Women in Sport
71%
of girls often avoid playing sports when they are on their period
43%
of teenage girls who once considered themselves sporty became disengaged from sport after primary school
70%
of girls admit to feeling uncomfortable exercising during their time of the month
leisure centres, football associations, community initiatives…
Collaborations similar to our partnership with the Big Sister Project, means free period products can be offered in leisure centres and gyms – not only providing a solution to those that are caught short but also offering product variety that may be more suited to the activities they are taking part in.
As always, our focus on education is just as important as product provision, so we developed training programmes for leisure centre staff and coaches so they feel confident discussing periods with the young people they work with.
In partnership with Hampshire FA, we provided products for players, education for teams (and their coaches) as well as educational podcasts that raise awareness of period education as well as taboo topics and acknowledgment of performance impact during menstruation.
Other collaborations include:

Hibernian FC
