The wave of period positivity is continuing across the country – and we are thrilled to share news of our partnership with one of the UK’s largest water companies.

Our products are now stocked in Anglian Water offices and sites across the central and east of England, as well as period education resources.

The water company, which supplies high-quality drinking water to more than four million customers and collects and treats used water from over six million customers across the East of England, supports our push for period dignity and the belief that every worker should have access to free period products in the workplace.

Hey Girls products are available in all Anglian Water’s staff washrooms, alongside educational posters about the environmental dangers posed by period waste.

The partnership came about after Hannah Smith, Operational Administrator and Sustainable Period Coordinator at Anglian Water, contacted our partnerships team.

Daisy Williams, our Partnerships and Contracts Manager, said: “This is another really exciting partnership for us as we spread the message of period dignity to more and more industries across the UK.

“From the first time we spoke with Hannah at Anglian Water, we saw how seriously the company takes waste and doing what’s best for the environment.

“It is amazing to work with companies that share our passion and we are so pleased to see this partnership with Anglian Water come into fruition.”

Hannah added: “The feedback we have received has been amazing – and it is so nice to hear the partnership is helping people.

“When I first came across Hey Girls, they blew my mind. Not only are their products affordable, but the fact a product is donated for each one purchased is amazing – I love everything about them.

“Their products also help us towards our plastic pledge of ridding the East of England of plastic pollution by 2030.”

Households in the East of England contributed to around 3,000 tons of unflushable waste last year, with the company calling on more people to switch to more environmentally-friendly products such as Hey Girls’ plastic-free disposables and reusables.

This is an area Hey Girls are passionate about, encouraging people never to flush period products through the #DontRushToFlush campaign.

Switching to reusable products for just two months can save the equivalent of 900 days’ worth of water for one person, helping to reduce both product waste and excess water usage.

Vicki Sloan, Head of Wellbeing at Anglian Water, added: “We’re really pleased to be stocking Hey Girls’ plastic-free period products at more than 60 of our sites, supporting our staff to manage their periods more sustainably and helping normalise women’s health concerns in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

“Not only this, but Hey Girls’ donation scheme also supports our commitment to social prosperity and gender equality by providing products to people in period poverty across the UK.

“We’re also committed to protecting and enhancing the environment by eliminating plastic pollution in the East of England by 2030, as well as reducing unflushable waste in our networks, which can cause blockages and pollution.

“While we would still urge users not to flush period products down the toilet, Hey Girls’ products are really environmentally friendly because they reduce plastic waste, as well as using less water during the manufacturing process.”
