People living in the Highlands now have free access to our period products in their homes thanks to a new partnership.
Households throughout the region can now order our home packs for free thanks to the partnership with The Highland Council.
The arrangement means those living in remote locations with limited access to existing community pick-up points can have six months’ worth of our disposable and reusable products delivered straight to their door.
Georgie Nicholson, our Partner and Contracts Manager, said: “We are delighted to partner with The Highland Council and ensure no households are left without the support they need.
“Community pick-up points are a fantastic way to ensure people have a place to access free period products, but it is so important those in more rural areas don’t miss out.
“We are so pleased to work with another local authority that shares our passion for ending period poverty in Scotland once and for all.”
The partnership comes following Scotland’s world-first Period Products (Free Provision) Act, making the access to free period products a legal right – and shortly after we were named Social Enterprise of the Year at the Social Enterprise Scotland Awards.
Cllr Graham Mackenzie, Chair of The Highland Council’s Communities and Place Committee said: “Thanks to our work with partners, many will benefit from the availability of free period products in Highland.
“This will particularly ease the financial burden on low-income households, which is especially welcome in the context of the cost-of-living crisis.”
Those living in the Highlands can also locate their nearest community pick-up location thanks to our world-first PickupMyPeriod app.
The app, which earned us the Tech for Good Award at this year’s UK Social Enterprise Awards, includes the location of more than 1,500 free period product collection points across Scotland.
More than 80 of those locations are located in The Highland Council area.
