Fashion brand’s period-inspired clothing raises vital funds for Hey Girls

Hey Girls are thrilled to announce their latest partnership with the brilliant team at Lucy & Yak.

The Brighton-based clothing brand has launched two new limited-edition items to raise awareness of women’s health, including “vulvarees” and a period-inspired pair of trousers.

Lucy & Yak has kindly donated to Hey Girls as part of the launch to support us on our mission to eradicate period poverty, improve period dignity and increase education around periods.

Both products hope to open up conversations about period positivity and remove stigma surrounding vulvas and periods.

The trousers are adorned with illustrations of menstrual cups, tampons and period pants, while the “vulvarees” are a pair of dungarees patterned with fruits to represent different vulvas.

Hannah Cooke, donations network support at Hey Girls, said: “We’re so excited to be joining up with Lucy & Yak again with their ‘Vulvarees’ and period inspired prints, designed in collaboration with real vulva and period advocates.”

“The new designs are brilliant and so too is the conversation around vulva stigma and period positivity.”

“Receiving the donation from the launch of this fabulous edit is so wonderful. Thank you to everyone at Lucy & Yak for supporting Hey Girls. Together we can drive positive change and really make a difference.”

The products’ launch follows on from their limited-edition Vulva dungarees in 2020, which proved an instant success.

The Lucy & Yak team also held a live Q&A session in its Brighton store on Wednesday, June 1, with a panel of trans advocates, sex educators, artists and staff opening up about period poverty, vulva stigma and other issues.

Both items are currently available for purchase from the Lucy & Yak website.
