Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital

How the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt hospital partnered with Hey Girls...

The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH), one of the first trusts in England to supply free period products to staff, first partnered with Hey Girls in early 2023 as part of the trust’s cost-of-living support programme.

The trust employs more than 1,700 staff – with over half of those requiring period products. All staff have access to the products, helping take away the stresses of being caught short while on shift and ensuring everyone can have a dignified period.

The need

RJAH prioritise the wellbeing of their colleagues and aim to ensure staff are treated with empathy, dignity, and respect.

They initially launched cost-of-living support in the autumn of 2022, with a series of measures designed to help staff navigate the cost-of-living crisis which has overwhelmed the country, and are delighted that free period products are now part of this programme.

The impact

This is a small but significant step to addressing women’s health in the workplace. Periods are a normal part of life and providing free period products for emergency situations can make a big difference to staff’s comfort and wellbeing.
