Award-winning social enterprise Hey Girls CIC is delighted to announce the renewal of its partnership with South Lanarkshire Council as part of the Council’s Period Positive Initiative. Extending the collaboration through to 2028, the renewed contract demonstrates passionate commitment to providing period products to those in need, while reinforcing a shared dedication to ending period poverty.
Since the inception of their partnership several years ago, Hey Girls and South Lanarkshire Council have worked tirelessly to ensure that period products are accessible to everyone in the local community, regardless of their situation. Via Hey Girls unique offering, this partnership raises awareness, sets a precedent for other councils to follow, and ensures that 100% of the value from this partnership is reinvested into ending period poverty for those that need it in the UK.
Kate Smith, Co Founder of Hey Girls, expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm for the continued collaboration:
“We’re thrilled to extend our partnership with South Lanarkshire Council for another four years. This agreement is a testament to the incredible work we’ve achieved together and emphasises our shared commitment to making period products accessible to all. With this initiative, we can continue to challenge the stigma surrounding periods and provide essential products to those who need them most.”
South Lanarkshire Council’s Period Positive Initiative has long been at the forefront of promoting period dignity, offering free period products in schools, community hubs, and other public facilities. By partnering with Hey Girls, the Council ensures that these products not only meet the highest quality standards but also directly support social good.
Councillor Lesley McDonald, Chair of Finance and Corporate Resources for South Lanarkshire Council commented:
“The renewal of our partnership with Hey Girls is a proud moment for the Council and reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting those in our community who are impacted by period poverty. Together, we will continue to provide essential resources while promoting education and breaking down barriers related to menstrual health.”
This partnership renewal is a significant step forward in the fight for period dignity and equality, demonstrating what can be achieved when local government and social enterprises come together for the greater good.
