Hey Girls knows that periods don’t stop when you leave school. That’s why we’re calling on community groups to ensure that the conversation doesn’t stop when school stops, and that learning and sharing about periods continues – supporting women throughout their lives, from menarche to menopause and beyond.
The My Period cards were designed to help youth workers and community workers have conversations with people of all ages and genders including children and young people, vulnerable adults, and everyone in between.
We created the My Period cards in partnership with a range of organisations and tested them in different settings – youth groups, drop in clinics, outreach services, and community centres. They have been designed to be as flexible as possible to suit your situation – whether to facilitate a chat about menopause over soup, or run a workshop with a group of teenagers.
“This is the most intuitive learning tool I’ve seen in a long time”
Christine Mclean, CFINE
We have some ideas about how the cards can be best used which we’ve included in the accompanying booklet, and we invite you to get creative! Supplementary resources for youth groups including Period Bingo, Testing Period Products, and Planning a Period Poverty Campaign can be downloaded here:
